2019 Annual Conference Motivational speaker announced

We are pleased to announce Kimberly Munley will be our motivational speaker this year. Kimberly was born and raised in Wilmington, NC. She served our country in the United States Army and with the Wrightsville Beach Police Department and UNCW Vice/Narcotics. Kimberly was of the responding officers at Fort Hood on November 5, 2009. She along with other officers put an end to a mass shooting that left 13 people dead. She was an advocate to change the classification of “workplace violence” to “terrorism” in the Fort Hood massacre. In April 2015, the military victims received their Purple Heart awards. Kimberly, along with a civilian victim, received the Secretary of Defense Medal for the Defense of Freedom (the civilian equivalent to the Purple Heart).

We look forward to meeting and hearing Kimberly’s story during our annual conference in October.

2019 NC Assoc. of College Stores Summer Conference

We have received an invitation to join our colleagues in Asheboro, NC for a one day summer conference. Louise sent an email on May 10th with the details. It is a FREE conference! All you need to do is register – Chad Conville (cwconville@randolph.edu) or Louise Rennix (lrennix@tcl.edu). The location is Randolph Community College in Asheboro, NC on June 6th from 10am – 3pm.

Our executive board is working on presenters for the educational sessions. 2018 SCACS Speakers Announced

SCACS is proud to welcome Brittany Conley and Bryan Narcisse as speakers at our 2018 Annual Meeting.

Brittany Conley will be presenting on industry trends and the impact on your college store during her session on October 3rd.

Conley is the Research Analyst at OnCampus Research, the research division of the National Association of College Stores (NACS). She joined NACS in 2016, and manages the Student Watch and Faculty Watch studies as well as OnCampus Research’s student panel of more than 24,000 college students.

Conley graduated from Kent State University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Advertising, with minors in Marketing and Sociology. In her spare time Brittany enjoys trying out new recipes and visiting her home town of Akron, Ohio.

Bryan Narcisse will be the SCACS Motivational Breakfast speaker on Thursday, October 4th.

Narcisse was raised in North Augusta, SC.  He played in over 100 career games for Clemson University.  With a 7 foot wingspan, he was known as a dunking and rebounding specialist.  Narcisse appeared in 3 NCAA Tournaments was a key reason the Tigers defense was among the nation’s best.  He finished 3rd in the 2012 College Slam Dunk Championship before being drafted by the Harlem Globetrotters.  Once retiring from basketball, “B-Nice” began a career as a ministry coordinator with Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

2018 Summer Conference

On Wednesday, 6 June 2018, there will be a FREE conference focusing on the implementation, hurdles and benefits of digital platforms, concentrating on all-inclusive course material. Several panels will present including stores and vendors. Trooper Rebecca Winstead, 2017 Motivational Speaker

SCACS is honored to announce one of South Carolina’s finest as the 2017 Breakfast Motivational Speaker.  Highway Patrol Trooper Rebecca Winstead has recently been presented the 2017 Director’s Medal of Valor, the Crime Stoppers’ Russ Sorrow Award, and nomination for the SC Trooper of the Year Award.   Her heroism and dedication to serve has been documented on local and national news networks including ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and CNN with a feature from Ashleigh Banfield.

Tony Ellis

Biography: Tony joined the National Association of College Stores (NACS; Oberlin, Ohio) as the director of education in October 2001. In October 2010, Tony was promoted to Chief Knowledge Officer, and in December 2016, to Vice President, Association Services. He is responsible for setting direction for and guiding the professional development program, membership, volunteer relations, certification program, vendor engagement programs (advertising, sponsorships, and exhibits), and CAMEX functional areas of the association.


Tony’s experience includes more than 25 years of work in training, teaching, coaching, and leadership education. He has been working in associations for more than 20 years. Prior to coming to NACS, Tony was the Associate Executive Director of the Association of College Unions International (ACUI). Tony earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation in May 2001, and holds a Master of Science in Education from Indiana University-Bloomington and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington.
